At the University of Tetova, namely at the Faculty of Food Technology and Nutrition, the professor from the Fulbright Program of the U.S. Embassy in the RNM, namely from the Ohio University in the U.S., Lorraine S. Wallace, held a lecture on “Health Literacy: ” What You Say”, “What They Hear”. Professor Wallace, who was accompanied by the representative for international educational programs at the U.S. Embassy, Gazmend Ilazi, previously held a meeting with the dean of FFTN, Prof. Dr. Xhezair Idrizi.
The lecture of the professor, Lorraine S. Wallace, brought details about the different definitions of health literacy and the importance of the right approach to this issue. According to her, a limited health accountability approach leads to low health knowledge, less healthy behaviors, poorer health outcomes and higher costs. She also emphasized that the risk factor affects limited health education and as a result this leads to low educational achievements, low socio-economic status, health care system problems, limited access to information and chronic health problems.
The lecture ended with a conversation between the students and the professor about issues that pose a challenge to the health of society as a whole.
